Robots Cleaning Hospitals in England

Robots are increasingly being used by the NHS to help fight the spread of deadly infections but could one day be used for much more. Click here to see the Robots at work.

Scientists in Newcastle and Warwick are working on an EU-funded project to produce a robotic nurse in three years. Charing Cross Hospital in London has already installed a robot in its pharmacy to dispense drugs. More to come on this story soon.

Pharmacy robots to be introduced at Bristol hospitals in England

Two NHS Trusts in Bristol are to install state-of-the-art robots to help dispense drugs in their pharmacies. These will be the first pharmacy robots in the South West of England

North Bristol NHS Trust and United Bristol Healthcare Trust will see the robots installed over the next two months.

The first robots are to be installed at Southmead Hospital in mid April. Bristol Royal Infirmary and Frenchay Hospital will then follow in late April/early May.

A pharmacy robot is an automated storage and retrieval system with drugs picked up by the robot’s arm from the shelves and then placed into a chute that is then sent for dispensing by pharmacy staff.
