Great Britain Returns Back to The Victorian Era
Life was hard in Victorian Britain for the poor , but not so much for the rich who never had it so good. With the global expansion of the British Empire, rich merchants were exploiting the so called third world using slaves as the work force, driving poor black men off their land and claiming it as their own with out any compensation.. That was the British way, That's how they ended up in big Victorian houses like the one on the left . The rich man in his Castle and the poor man at his gate, all the wealth they accumulated was at the expense of black slaves and child labour.
The poor, in Victorian England were also treated with contempt , working conditions were bad as people just worked for a pittance not contend with that the so called upper classes thought their would get the work carried out even cheaper, if they employed children. It prompted writer Chares Dickens to write novels about Victorian life. In 1833 slavery was abolished through out the British Empire which saw labour laws included Lord Ashley’s Children’s Employment Commission (1842), which was followed by the Coal Mines Act in 1843. This Act stopped the Coal Mines from hiring women, and boys under the age of ten.
In 1834 the Poor Law also was introduced mainly to take the poor off the street and placing them in workhouses like the one on the left which is in Durham City, which were like prisons for the poor , to be told that you had to go to the workhouse put fear into most people. Workhouse's were more like prisons, Husband and Wife were separated, children were taking off for the day to work in the mills or down the mines all the inmates the old, sick and the insane were made to work for they keep. But in 2008 children in the UK are still sold to rich families by Nazi mentality Social Workers visit this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_C75RO6LL4&feature=related
The Workhouses were officially closed in the 1930s but some sill occupied until the mid 50s as Britain began to recover after the second world war, the country made good progress, and a lot of good things started been implemented for example the introduction of the NHS in 1948 which revolutionised health care in the country and is the envy of the world because it delivers health care to all not just to those who can pay.

By the 1960s employment was plentiful and the country was moving forward, we had a Labour Government Harold Wilson was in number 10 ,The Beatles were in the charts and it was happy days. By the 70s Pawn Shops the symbol of poverty started to disappear , and you could see people making good progress in they lives. People started purchasing luxury items like washing machines, Colour TV had just been invented, but few could afford this luxury as of yet.
After the 2nd World War the labour government built over one million new council houses to meet the need of a growing population, but now it seems that some people have just got to greedy, in the 90s house prices began to sharply increase , mainly cause by greed in the Estate Agencies pushing up the house prices , that and greedy banks who help people to spend more then they could afford to pay back.
Now in 2008 we see the result of what happens when you pay with plastic, and when you have a taste for Champagne but only a Beer income. Now its payback! but the people can't afford too, so they are defaulting on their mortgages and unsecured loans. Britain is now the most indebted nation in the world , owing over 1.6 Trillion Pounds to lenders such as banks for mortgages and unsecured loans, and the vast majority of that debt will not be paid back. But its not all gloom , the Pawn Shops are back in the 70s Pawn Shops were down to about 80 shop through out Britain, now we have over 1,000 and business is booming. Not just the poor are using the service's of the Pawn Shop the Middle Class's are queuing up as Gold has increased to over $960 oz .
